Class Descriptions
Teaser (Introductory) Class
This class is designed for everyone; for those who are new to Luscious Belly Studios. If you are not sure that bellydancing is for you, try out a free class on us! Call the studio to set up a time that works for you.
Belly 1 - No prerequisite
In this basic beginners dance technique class; you will learn the foundations of this ethnic dance form. You will develop the tools to strengthen your presentation including, muscle isolation, memory and strengthening, posture, and flexibility. Each week we put these new movements into combinations and string them together in a short dance routine. A yoga mat may sometimes be used for some floor exercises.
Belly 2
Prerequisites: Belly 1 Completion & Approval from Instructor. This dance technique class is an extension of Belly 1. This course focuses on fundamental drills & isolation exercises to enhance essential dance practice. Students learn to add arms to basic body isolations and further develop their technique.
Belly 3
Prerequisites: Belly 1 - 2 Completion & Approval from Instructor. In this technique class, students learn to layer basic body isolations. Traveling is introduced with step-combinations, shimmies and drills. Repetition in drilling dance movement will leave students with a strong sense of body awareness. Full choreography is completed, and single veil technique is introduced.
Belly 4
Prerequisites: Belly 1 - 3 Completion & Approval from Instructor. Students in this technique class will learn additional belly dance movements, combinations, and full choreography. Technique and movement vocabulary are further developed through layering and drilling more complex movement sequences and combinations.
Bellydance Cardio
This workout is fast-paced focused on burning calories through drilling and non-stop bellydance movements. Tone up with ab-toning shimmies! You'll have fun and burn calories as you improve your flexibility, posture and grace (while you also tone your abs and glutes).
Bellydance with Veil
This class teaches the technique of veil dance from the basics of veil manipulation to the nuances of carriage, body lines, and tips for achieving an effortless, flawless performance
Bellydance Stretch & Tone
This class will introduce exercises intended to strengthen your core - abs, thighs, glutes, and lower back. This comprehensive workout focused on strengthening the abs and lower back will improve posture, strength, and will be extremely useful for bellydancers.
Hoopdance Multi-Level
You will learn the core moves of hoopdance that allow you to build a solid foundation to dance from. Learn Beginner to Advance Hooping skills to develop fluidity and percision in your HoopDance skills. Freestyle dance moves are incorporated into each students presentation to deliver poise, presentation skills, and your ability to anticipate every movement of the hoop!
Cardio Hoop Fitness
Cardio Hoop Fitness is a form of high-intensity cardio workout with motivational and enthusiastic coaching to lead students into sweat drenching, fat shredding, total body toning, bootcamp workout! With electrifying upbeat techno house music it provides an external stimulus to encourage a certain tempo and energy with class participants!
Zumba
Zumba is a popular fitness program that combines dance styles such as cumbia, merengue, salsa, reggaeton, calypso, and hip-hop. Participants in this 60-minute program will pump their legs, windmill their arms, gyrate their hips, clap their hands, dip, slide and spin � all to a frenzied beat that leaves them with flushed cheeks and dripping in sweat!
Belly Drills
This class is designed all levels. We will explore drills at varying levels of difficulty that are designed to increase your physical strength, muscle memory, and coordination. The beginner dancer can benefit from the breakdown of the moves and the slow isolation drills, while the more advanced dancer can incorporate layering and finger cymbal technique.
Intro to NIA
Nia is a personal growth, body mind-spirit fitness program. It is a "living system" that works with the natural wisdom and intelligence of the body, mind, spirit, and emotions. (Contact us if you have a group of 6 or more to create this class in our Fall lineup!)
Prenatal Bellydance
Discover how your beautiful pregnant body is perfectly designed to bellydance. Your baby will love it and you will enjoy the freedom of movement through belly beautiful movements that engage your core muscles used in childbirth. . (Contact us if you have a group of 6 or more, or would like to be added to our mailing list to create this class in our Fall lineup!)
Moms & Babies Bellydance
This class is targeted toward new Moms and their babies (from about 6 weeks to approximately 1 year). The focus of this class is to get new Moms moving again and engaging those muscle groups that have been ignored for a few months while at the same time gently soothing the wee ones with the hypnotic, rocking rhythms and music of Belly Dance. Come and meet other new Moms and do a little dancing too.
Mother Daughter
This session is created for new Mothers & Daughters wanting to explore new movements, spend quality time with their daughters and learn bellydancing. A fun, easy choreography will be taught. The mother daughter package accommodates daughter’s ages 6 and up.
Private Lessons
Private lessons are available for all students wishing to gain a one on one experience with any of our teachers. If you would like to book a private lesson, please contact us to arrange a date and time. All private lessons are held at our studio.
